Domain Name Quick Tips

1. Choose a domain name that represents your business and the products and services you offer. For example, if you are a FLOORING company in Columbia, you should consider names like www.ColumbiaFlooring.sc, www.ColumbiaCarpet.sc, www.ColumbiaTile.sc, and maybe even www.CarolinaFlooring.sc.


2. Domain names can be up to 63 characters, but try to create the shortest domain name that is most recognizable to your potential clients. If your name is Greenville Lights and Lanterns, consider www.GLL.sc. Three letter domains will be "Impossible" to obtain some day in the near future.


3. Incorporate a popular keyword into your domain name. If your name is www.HiltonHeadDiagnosticsCenter.com, think about www.Diagnostics.sc.


4. The easier your domain name is to pronounce (and spell), the easier it will be to remember. Which is easier, www.Gynocologists.sc, or www.GYNO.sc???


5. Do not do Dashes unless you have to. The last thing you need is a customer looking you up on the internet and forgetting that you have a dash in your name.


6. Choose domains that are short and simple, and redirect them to your main domain. If your current web site is www.FredsAutomotiveandBrakes.net, consider www.Freds.sc, and direct all your traffic to your original site.


7. Get more for your money. If your current site is www.CharlestonBrakesandTires.com, why not get www.CharlestonBrakes.sc, AND www.CharlestonTires.sc, (and MAYBE www.CBT.sc).
